Coil coating is a continuous and highly automated industrial process providing efficiently pre-painted steel coils. The steel surface is cleaned and treated before it is cut and formed, providing uniformly paint application and tightly-bonded finishes (paint adhesion), in contrast with post-coating applicable on cut-and-formed surface with holes, valleys, recessed and hidden areas.

Therefore, prepainted steel as product of a superior coating process, is considered more durable and more corrosion-resistant over post-painted steel.
